FocusTone™ Handcrafted Mouthpiece for Tenor Saxophone
The story and philosophy behind the FocusTone™
The FocusTone™ Model is the culmination of over 25 years of my personal endeavor to find or create a mouthpiece with which I could produce the sound which I had clearly in my mind but could only partially produce with any mouthpiece I could find. This sound in my mind which created a powerful determination in me, was one that embodied and was inspired by the essential elements of those great jazz tenor saxophonists who played the finely crafted, now "vintage" and coveted, metal mouthpieces of their day. This constant personal quest ultimately resulted in the creation of the FocusTone™ Model.
Originally having no intention of manufacturing a mouthpiece, I at some point became aware of the gift of my ability in this regard, and the realization it must be shared. As I started out trying to make something outstanding for myself, my success has led me to the belief that I must always strive to handcraft each one with the same standards and integrity that I utilized to create my own. This philosophy and approach is why I believe that so many of my friends are happy playing FocusTones™. I put many hours into each and every one and if I'm not proud of how it plays, then it isn't finished.
